The school was formed in 1985 following the merger of Rastrick Grammar School and Reinswood Secondary School. However, its history can be traced back to 1621.[1] The school is a technology specialist school and has many impressive design and technology specialist equipment.
The school is ranked 9th out of 17 secondary schools that are in Calderdale, based on GCSE pass rates. It gets reasonable results at GCSE, well above the Calderdale average.
